Guests are invited to all these events. A super opportunity for others to learn about u3a first hand. Events are free to attend except where indicated.

Tuesday 20th June 10 am Support for planet Earth. A series of short presentations and discussion organised by our Saving the Planet Group. Electric bikes, plants for bees, carbon capture, refillables, vintage dressing, solar panels, pressure on the powerhouses; it's all happening and not least in Ilkley & District u3a. Come and share your ideas and /or try something new.
Tuesday 27th June 10:30 am The Art of the Album Cover. A light-hearted and irreverent presentation on album cover art, particularly where album covers have used or referenced, art works, from the peak period of LP sales (mid 1960s to early 1980s).
Wednesday 28th June 2:30 pm African Children in Peril. The West's toxic legacy. Brian Waller, a member of our u3a will give a presentation and lead a discussion about the predicament of young children in Sub-Saharan Africa. Expect to hear about our colonial past as well as how these children exist in today's supposedly more enlightened society.
Friday 30th June 2:00 pm Ilkley in the Second World War. Discussion for half a dozen members based upon reports in the pages of the Ilkley Gazette. (At the Flying Duck, Church Street, Ilkley)
Tuesday 4th July 2:30 pm Art of the Stone Age. John Parker of our Art Appreciation Group starts by looking back 3 million years to the beginnings of aesthetic appreciation and then moving on to the last 40,000 years up to the Bronze Age. This includes the amazing and often accomplished art including cave painting, musical instruments, carving and the first ceramics.
Thursday 13th July 2:00 pm The History of South Africa. Both the British and Dutch have played a major role in the history of South Africa from the establishment of Cape Town by Jan van Riebeeck in 1652 until Nelson Mandela became President. As a taster for the u3a Histories of Nations group, Marten Koopmans will present this history with little known quirky bits of information.
For those who like to dance, sing and make music
Thursday 29th June 2:30 pm Hand Bell ringing. Meet members of Chevin Handbell Ringers in Otley, and take part in a Ringing Workshop, learning the art of handbell ringing
Monday 3rd July 2:00 pm Get Up and Boogie at the Ben Rhydding Scout Hut. The Disco Group invites you to come along and dance to the wonderful music of the 1960s-70s. Whether it's tamla motown, Glam Rock, the Bee Gees, Beatles, Beach Boys or Elton John that floats your boat, you'll hear it here. Refreshments provided at no charge.
Tuesday 4th July 10:00 am Join our Singing for Pleasure group at St. Johns Church in Ben Rhydding. Expect to be taken through a typical Singing for Pleasure Session going through breathing exercises, warm ups, technical Exercises and singing some simple songs in 1, 2 or 3 parts assisted by existing group members

Monday 19th June 10:30 am Join our Tai Chi and Qi Gong Group for some morning exercise at the Riverside Gardens. Jim Butterfield, the group leader will be delighted to welcome you to a tester session. Just say hello to him on arrival. Loose clothing obviously!
Wednesday 21st June 10 am to 3 pm Join Peter Butler for an archaeology walk on Ilkley Moor. Meet at the Cow and Calf Rocks car park. Our route will take us up onto Green Crag Slack and from there to the Twelve Apostles stone circle, returning along the Dick Hudson path back to our starting point. Wear stout footwear and warm waterproof clothing. We will stop a couple of times for refreshment, so bring a packed lunch and drinks
Friday 23rd June 10 am to 12 noon Join our Friday Table Tennis Group for a taster session.at the Winter Gardens Ilkley. Bats provided. Please wear trainer type shoes.

Monday 19th June 10:00 am A guided walk looking at trees in Ilkley. Join u3a member Sue Stevens as she explains little known facts about the trees that adorn our parks in the centre of Ilkley.
Tuesday 20th June Evening A Film & TV themed treasure hunt in Bradford. Come and join other u3a members as we make up teams of four to compete against other local u3a groups. We will travel and return together either by car share or train. Cost £12:50 which includes supper.
Monday 26th June All day Join Northern Towns Group for a guided tour of Harrogate. A limited number of places on a minibus picking up at Addingham, Ilkley, Burley and Otley. Cost £16 
Wednesday 5th July 10:00 am A guided walk through Addingham. Based upon the blue plaque guide. Much more to this village than you might imagine.
Friday 7th July 2:15 pm Join Veronica Youngson for a guided walk through Lister Park in Bradford. Veronica is a u3a member, local historian and keen botanist. Learn about the fascinating history of this splendid park and the wonderful specimens of trees on display. We will travel and return together either by car share or train
Wednesday 12th July: All day Join Voyagers Group for a Grand Day Out. Visit Sheffield Cutlers' Hall in the morning and Renishaw Hall in the afternoon. Cost £49.99.  Bookings to be made by Monday 26th June. This will include luxury coach travel, entry to both locations, lunch and coffee so really good value and excellent company. Local pick up points.
For those who like to be entertained
Thursday 13th July 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Thursday Tappers u3a group. Join them at the Riverside Hotel, 26 Bridge Ln, Ilkley LS29 9EU for an upbeat session featuring your favourite music from when we were all in our teens and twenties. Arrive early and buy a drink at the bar.
