I am a Chartered Accountant of 50 years standing and a former listed company finance director. I am involved in other charities and was for 9 years secretary of Ilkley Bowling Club, where I am currently Chairman. I have lived in Ilkley for nearly 40 years.

I have a degree in Chemical Engineering from Leeds University and an MBA from Manchester Business School.  My career started with the Foreign Office, working on the Overseas Aid Programme, followed by a Technical Manager position for a Dutch Machinery Manufacturing Company. Before retiring in 2025, I spent 38 years working for Nestlé in the UK, Australia and Switzerland, in various Manufacturing and Technical Management positions, mainly in Breakfast Cereals and Confectionary.  Throughout my career and outside of work, I have always had a passion for developing others.

I am originally from Northamptonshire and came to Yorkshire in 1977 following a spell at University in Wales. I am a retired Chartered Accountant, having been in practice in Otley, Wetherby and Harrogate for many years. During my life in Otley I have been involved with various local organisations, schools and churches.

I am a retired Biomedical Scientist. I was secretary and chair for a charity ( ACCP) that promoted discussion on all aspects of  Clinical Pathology. I live in Otley, am passionate about the u3a and founded Ilkley & District u3a Walking Cricket. After two years as Treasurer support I became Treasurer in November 2024.

I have recently retired from a lengthy career in the NHS as a Specialist Public Health Nurse focusing on staff education, development and clinical supervision although my passion was children's emotional health. I live in Guiseley and enjoy spending as much time as possible in the company of my friends and family.

Deborah Allis  Events Coordinator

I am a retired head teacher. I worked in education for 25 years, I became a Head Teacher in 2014 and went on to lead three very different schools. During my career I worked in the Midlands and London and have seen huge changes in Education and the needs of children and their families. I continue to nurture a passion for education. Before entering the teaching profession, I worked for Barclays Bank where I gained a good understanding of how businesses run and where I also developed and delivered many staff training programmes. I am now keen to use my skills and experience to support those in retirement to lead active, rewarding and fulfilling lives.

I am a retired University Lecturer having worked at Bradford, Exeter and Aston Universities, specialising in adult continuing education and environmental sustainability. I am currently the Events Coordinator at Ilkley and District u3a and periodically deliver talks and short courses on William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement .

 Nikki Falconer  Fitness Hub Co-ordinator

I am a retired registered nurse and worked in General Practice for many years. I lived in Ilkley from 1986 -1999 and returned after 20 years living in Cardiff. I joined Ilkley and District u3a and became Fitness Hub Coordinator and a trustee in 2023. I am a volunteer with Ilkley Good Neighbours and enjoy helping with our grandchildren.

I first came to Yorkshire as  a student at Leeds University. I worked in specialised residential schools until marriage and then in Pharmaceutical Research. I was the first Chairperson and then President of the International Scientific Archivists Group, running courses through Cambridge University. I ran my own Consultancy until retirement then P A Temping. A member of Ilkley and District u3a since 2013 as Group Leader and member of various groups. A Trustee since 2021 giving me chance to meet so many friendly people.

Evelyn Gregory  External Relations

I am a retired Training Consultant who moved to Leeds over thirty years ago while working for Halifax Direct. After leaving corporate life, I ran my own training consultancy and managed a Bed & Breakfast in Wales until retirement. Community work has always been important to me. I served as a Trustee for a Homeless Support Centre and have continued volunteering in a variety of roles ever since. I joined U3A in 2025 and am an active member of the Gardening Group and the ‘Go with’ groups. Family is a big part of my life, and I spend a great deal of time with my daughters and grandchildren, who all live locally.
