Explore the Shipley to Guiseley railway line

Travel by one of two Ilkley Community minibuses or train to Shipley where we meet our guide.  The minibus then follows the railway line back to Guiseley stopping at various points of interest. Using maps and newspaper reports we will discover how the line was constructed almost 150 years ago.

There is a scale to some of the viaducts that you simply do not appreciate when travelling on this line today from Guiseley through to Bradford.

Our final stop is the Woolpack in Esholt (of TV fame) for a buffet lunch. Buy your own drinks. Some Emmerdale related photos on display.

Price for minibus and buffet lunch is £22

Pick-ups by one of two minibuses in Addingham, Ilkley, Burley in Wharfedale and Otley. Times and exact location of pick up will be advised by email closer to the visit. Back in Ilkley around 3pm.

It is anticipated we will use the u3a tour guide system. Please bring your headphones (3.5mm jack plug). Alternatively, there will be headphones to purchase on the day (£3 cash).
