ILKLEY & DISTRICT u3a
This series of 5 walks is aimed at the casual walker or those wanting to explore a new environment at a safe gentle pace with stops to enjoy the views. Book on one walk or book on them all!
Meet Outside the Round House Main Street (Junction with Station Road), Burley in Wharfedale, LS29 7ND. (Opposite The Red Lion Pub).
We will leave the round house and walk down Main Street and take the bridle path to the River Wharfe. On reaching the river there are several accessible view points to view the river.
A short stretch of the Bridle Path leads to the Stepping Stones. This path is very uneven. Participants who wish to use this path to view the River and Stepping Stones do so at their own risk.
Our route continues by the Mill Goit to the former Greenholme Mill where we join a newly created footpath through the woods. We return to Burley via Iron Row and the Recreation Field. The walk will finish at Burley Methodist Church, for optional refreshments.
The route will follow established paths. The path by The Goit can be muddy during wet weather. The path through the woods involves an uphill incline.
Please wear comfortable, appropriate footwear for the terrain, and appropriate clothing for the weather on the day. You may wish to carry a cold drink with you.
Tea/coffee/cold drinks and homemade cakes are available at the Methodist Church at the end of the walk. Donation on the day. (suggested donation for drink and cake £3.00) Please advise the walk organiser of any allergies or gluten free requirements by Tuesday 8th July
Street Parking (some with time restriction)
