  • 17 Aug 2024
  • 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Main Hall, Clarke Foley, Cunliffe Road, Ilkley, LS29 9DZ

Sue Faulding is a member of Ilkley u3a:

I am a pharmacist: registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. I have worked in the NHS for over 40 years in a range of sectors.

I will talk about the regulation of medicines. So, looking at how we can ensure the quality, safety and efficacy of medicines compared with remedies of the past. Why some medicines can be bought 'over the counter' and others have to be prescribed and why some medicines have additional 'controls'. I have data on which medicines are prescribed most often in England, and can explain how the Covid vaccine was developed so quickly. I will make this session interactive and will be happy to (try to) answer any questions from the audience.

Entrance is FREE

Free tea or coffee and a biscuit served from 10.00 when the doors open. The talk starts promptly at 10.30.
