  • 18 May 2024
  • 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Main Hall, Clarke Foley, Cunliffe Road, Ilkley, LS29 9DZ
  Dr Catherine Walsh

Associate Professor, University of Leeds

To date, Earth is the only planet that we know of on which life has begun and thrived.

In this talk I will describe the processes and ingredients proposed to have shaped the habitability of our home planet during the birth and evolution of our Solar System, and our attempts to search for evidence of these in the planet-forming environments around other stars.

I will give an overview of the demographics and properties of the population of planets that orbit other stars (the so-called exoplanets), and outline future prospects for finding signatures of life on other worlds.

Entrance is FREE

Free tea or coffee and a biscuit served from 10.00 when the doors open. The talk starts promptly at 10.30.

You are welcome to bring a friend.
