TEXTILE ADVENTURES

Join us for a day of Textile Adventures including talks, practical workshops and demonstrations – the perfect time to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

AFRICAN WAX PRINT”

A film about Aiwan Obinyan, a young, English born, Nigerian woman searching for her identity. She found it all in the African Wax Prints. But are they truly African? Her journey tells the fascinating story of these exuberant designs and how they came to represent black communities across the globe.

QUILTS FOR A CAUSE”

Since the late 19th century groups and individuals have made quilts in the name of a “Good Cause”. From early signature quilts made in the USA, to the Aids quilt in the 20th century and Quilts for Care Leavers in the 21st century. This talk aims to show images of some of the many beautiful quilts produced and tell the stories behind their making.
