ILKLEY & DISTRICT u3a
We will walk up on to the eastern end of Rombald’s Moor and examine the archaeology in the rarely visited Lanshaw and Woofa Bank areas. There are many rock art panels, cairns both large and small, and the remnants of a Stone Age enclosure. The height gain of the walk is about 300 feet.
Please wear suitable clothing. It is always colder and windier on the high moor than you expect! Bring a snack and drink. We will have a refreshment stop at a suitable point.
Venue: meet at the large lay-by on Hangingstone Road. Further details will be provided to those who register for the walk.
