“The Climate Crisis. Some Solutions”

  • 19 Aug 2022
  • 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
  • Main Hall, Clarke Foley Centre, Cunliffe Road, Ilkely, LS29 9DZ

This is a talk with a difference because Brenda (u3a member of Cotgrave & District) will be talking to us from her home and will be seen on the big screen at Clarke Foley via zoom. So deliberately keeping down her carbon footprint by not travelling up the M1.

As for our audience, we have the benefit of meeting like-minded members of our u3a in a social environment and without the constraints of peering into a computer screen. There will be a break for refreshments (pay in cash on the day £1.15 per cup and 55 pence for a small pack of biscuits) and there will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the talk.

Brenda will briefly summarise the scientific background to climate change and look at examples, in the UK and worldwide, of how it is impacting people lives. She will also reflect on the 2021 COP26 UN Climate talks in Glasgow and explain some of the outcomes.

Brenda set up and led 4 workshops during the COP Climate conference in Glasgow, with an emphasis on Intergenerational Climate Activism. Read more about how u3a is getting involved in this important issue on this link to

u3a climate network website.

This event will be chaired by Mike Pilling of the Environment Forum and hosted by John Hancock.
