Name:

Weaving

Description:

The meetings are a forum to exchange techniques and share experience in the craft of weaving.

We include all types of weaving using home-made cardboard looms, hula hoops, twigs and simple peg looms and other looms for more advanced work.

Our aims are:

  • to explore the different types of yarns and fabrics that make up finished textiles
  • to share resources, expertise and projects
  • to support beginners but the more experienced have learning opportunities as well
  • to go to exhibitions, museums and galleries concerned with textiles and weaving
  • to explore the history of the craft/art of making textiles along with the social history that is so closely entwined with the people who have woven textiles over the centuries
There are endless possibilities only constrained by our imagination!
