The group results from the popularity of ‘Probing the News’. The aim is to discuss various aspects of news and current affairs in a friendly and informal manner. Each member will be encouraged to select and prepare a short introduction on a small number of news stories which have aroused their particular interest during the previous two weeks. These could be serious or light-hearted and could range from political issues to social events, or reviews of television, cinema, books or the theatre. We will seek to cover a broad cross-section of issues rather than conduct a detailed forensic analysis of a small number. |
