Description:

Roger and Hazel Goulden have taken over leadership of the Local Landmarks and Lunch group. They describe the group as an outdoor local history and geography group.

We have several spaces for newmembers. We are a small friendly group with a range of interests

Each day will be led by a group member who will research and talk about theLandmark(s) and organise a lunch venue. New members are not expected to contribute this year.It is not another Walking Group. We will limit the whole day’s walking to threemiles. The walks will only be from the cars to the landmarks or around a village or town. There may be some rough walking, steps, slopes and tree roots. The length the day depends on locations visited and the distance travelled. Most venues will be within an hour from Ilkley.

Members make their own way to the venue Payment of 10p/mile suggested if car sharing.There is no fee to join the group. Costs will vary to include coffee, lunch, parking fee, petrol contribution, entry fee and donation to external speaker or venue. We will use the u3a tour guide system - you will need your own headphones

E-mail will be used to give details of meeting point at venue, timings, lunch choices and any last minute alterations. Members must notify the leader if they are coming or send apologies one week before to enable necessary bookings to be made.

This year we plan to have five or six sessions starting in June on alternate Tuesdays. Venues will include Pateley Bridge, Middleton in Ilkley and Threshfield
