Name: |
Early History |
Description: |
At each meeting, a topic from any aspect of mainly (but not exclusively) British and European history up to the monastic Middle Ages is introduced by a member for up to half an hour. The member then leads a discussion about the topic, highlighting issues he/she has raised, encouraging contributions and questions from other members. In order to enable this, group membership is limited to twelve. Willingness to introduce a topic is encouraged but not a condition of membership. For the benefit of all, the main prerequisites are an abiding interest in an under-appreciated, vast period of history and a willingness to contribute t the group's exploration of a treasure trove of fascinating facts and issues - many of which still resonate today. As this group replaces a course fully set up but thwarted by Covid, membership priority for this new group is initially being given to that small number who had signed up for the original course. If the level of interest in this new group significantly exceeds a dozen, it is hoped to form a duplicate group in January ’23. |
