Women Filmmakers is a short series of talks, presented via Zoom by a guest speaker from Oxford u3a. Each talk will last about 90 minutes.
It’s always been difficult for women to make their way in cinema, and these talks will consider why that is and whether it’s beginning to change. We’ll meet women filmmakers from around the world and take a look at some of their work (through clips), with plenty of suggestions for future explorations in film made by women.
The session topics are:
1.Why are so few films made by women?
2.Women filmmakers in the English-speaking world
3.Women filmmakers with subtitles
4.And besides directing, how else can women make films?
