ILKLEY & DISTRICT u3a
A series of circular walks that all start at 10:30 am and last for roughly 90 minutes. Sue will be using the u3a audio tour guide system so everyone will be able to hear her expert commentary. Places are limited on each walk so please choose just one of the three on offer.
Each walk is based on one of the published tree trails produced by Neil and Sue Stevens :- 'Introduction to Trees', 'Town Centre Trees' and 'Darwin Gardens and the Moor'.
There is no need to have a copy of the trail but it can be downloaded from https://ilkleytrees.org.uk/treetrails/ and free copies should be available from the Grove bookshop.
Wednesday 13th July. A repeat of last year’s circular walk around 40 trees, mainly in East Holmes Field and around the Lido area starting at the Manor House.
Monday 18th July. A circular walk around 34 trees in the centre of Ilkley, starting in the car park and visiting the memorial gardens, Spence Gardens and the Grove, the walk starts outside Avanti’s café near the central car park.
Thursday 21st July. A circular walk around 35 trees starting in Darwin Gardens and going on to the lower moor up to White Wells and descending to the lower tarn. The paths are a bit rough and steep in places. Meet in the Darwin Gardens car park.
We will be using the u3a audio tour guide system so please bring your own headphones. Any that use a standard 3.5 mm jack plug, often provided with portable music players or mobile phones will work.
Alternatively email John Hancock (octopuss@btinternet.com) before the event to order new headphones at £3 cash payable on the day.
