ILKLEY & DISTRICT u3a
An opportunity to meet members of the choir and to gain an impression of what we do. Happily, we have now resumed our regular meetings in the hall at St John’s Church.
The Singing for Pleasure group meets to sing and enjoy music. We sing music from the 13th to the 20th century and from many countries. Pieces include some serious and some less so - most are sung in parts (SATB), some are sung as rounds. Members are actively encouraged to suggest new works.
Musical knowledge is useful, but the group is open to anyone who enjoys singing - you will be invited to join in with all of the singing!
The session will flow through a tried and tested routine:
breathing exercises
vocal warm up exercises
detailed teaching
singing (for pleasure!) complete pieces from our repertoire
requests
(In this session the requests will be taken in advance, to ensure that the sheet music is available for visitors.)
You will be supplied, beforehand, with a loan copy of our music booklet and all the other sheet music to be covered.
You may wish to join us simply to enjoy a morning of singing or with a view to joining this choir. In either case we will be able to direct you to our web page, before the session, to maximise your experience on the day.
