Talks are presently held via easy to use Zoom video link

A warm welcome to Andrew and Susan Green from Barnsley U3A whose illustrated talk will not only draw parallels with past and present pandemics but also look at how they inspired creativity, progress and discovery, particularly in the late Tudor and early Stuart eras.

The talk then concentrates on the Derbyshire village of Eyam and how the plague came to the village and how they managed to contain it. Be honest, how many have visited this charming village and thought “it’s never going to happen in my lifetime!”

We are promised a talk with sad and sometimes humorous stories but finishing off with a live, on zoom re-enactment of a cure from days gone by. Perhaps this should be prefaced with “do not try this at home”.
