Ilkley & District u3a

Name:

Guitar for intermediates

Description:

We are calling this a 'Workshop' on the basis that we are not teachers or experts, but we will take responsibility for co-ordinating a weekly session, with an expectation that members all contribute, establishing a setting where we stimulate and learn from each other. Material tends to be folk, blues and rock/pop music. All music is published on a database shared with members on google drive, generally brought in on iPads and tablets. Outings and additional events are encouraged. New members are welcome, but need to  know their various chord shapes, and be able to change reasonably fluently.

Organisers:

Peter Mate/Richard Hersey

Venue:

Upstairs above the Taps (Ilkley Moor Vaults) in Ilkley. (opposite Catholic Church). Group Members collectively attend other music sessions and concerts from time-to-time, sometimes organising specialist events and learning. Additionally, we have a new initiative, involving various members playing and entertaining in local Care Homes.

Times:

Tuesday afternoon 13.00 to 15.00, weekly with a break for summer 2019 restarting September. Specialist trips and classes by arrangement.
Cost:  Venue is free.  The Taps is a Pub, so please buy a drink. Alcohol is not obligatory, but sometimes helps the flow.
